No outside alcohol, no cash during Belmont Stakes

NYRA has announced policies for the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival for fans including a ban on using cash for purchases, no alcohol on the grounds and no use of professional photography equipment. However, cash can still be used for wagering.

NYRA has announced policies for the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival for fans including a ban on using cash for purchases, no alcohol on the grounds and no use of professional photography equipment. However, cash can still be used for wagering.

The festival will be held at Saratoga Race Course from June 6 through June 9. On June 6 and June 9, gates open at 11 a.m. before post time at 12:50 p.m. On June 7, gates open at 10:30 a.m. before the 12:20 p.m. post time.

Cash will not be accepted for purchases of food and beverages, admission, parking or programs with the exception of the official Saratoga store. 

On the day of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, there will be an early post time of 10:45 a.m. Gates will open to the public at 9 a.m. Backyard picnic tables will be available on a first come, first serve basis during the festival. Fans can access the backyard to secure tables at 11 a.m. on Thursday and Sunday and 10:30 a.m. on Friday. They can access them at 9 a.m. on Belmont Stakes day.

Re-entry to the event will not be permitted during the four-day festival. 

Each fan is permitted one folding chair and one cooler of 12 inches by 18 inches for food and nonalcoholic beverages. Small bags and purses are allowed.

Tables, pop-up tents, wagons or alcohol are not allowed to be brought in to the race course.

The main track will be open for fans to watch morning training from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

Breakfast will not be served on the porch, but breakfast will be available from the Finish Line Grill as well as food trucks and concession stands.
