The Brown Street Bridge in North Adams in Berkshire County is now closed to traffic.
The bridge was inspected Tuesday, and closed shortly after, the North Adams mayor told NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle.
State inspectors noticed significant change since the last inspection in September, the mayor said.
The bridge, which connects River Street and West Main Street over the Hoosic River, was built in 1952.
The North Adams Mayor says the bridge will remain closed until the city and state of Massachusetts come up with a plan.
