North Adams man sentenced in uncover child sex sting

A North Adams man was sentenced on Wednesday to 14 years in prison in a child sex sting.

James Macko, 23, was texting and chatting online with who he thought was an 11-year-old girl in November and December 2022, prosecutors said. It was actually an undercover investigator.

Police arrested Macko on Dec. 9 at a state park in Massachusetts, where he planned to have sex with a child in a cave, they said. Macko had candy, liquor and a rope on him, investigators said.

He also faces 20 years of supervised release.
