NYRA hosting Belmont Stakes job fair for people as young as 15
NYRA is hosting a job fair Wednesday afternoon for anyone who wants to work during the four-day Belmont Stakes racing festival in June.
Some positions are open to people as young as 15.
They’re looking to hire for several positions, including restaurant staff, cashiers, and cleaners.
All applicants should bring a photo ID and Social Security card.
Todd Shimkus, president of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, said kids will be in school during the festival, but some school districts may want to make an exception – especially if they have not used any snow days so far this year.
“Will they perhaps designate June 6 and 7, that Thursday and Friday, as ‘snow days,’” said Shimkus. “So the kids who are old enough can actually go and work there, and make some money for those two days, and then Saturday and Sunday as well.”
The job fair goes from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the 1863 Clubhouse.
The Belmont Stakes was moved to Saratoga Race Course this year, due to a major construction project at Belmont Park.
