NYRA is increasing purses for the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. The racing festival starts Thursday, June 6.
The purses are getting bumped from $10,000 to $100,000 for the open maiden special weights class and from $75,000 to $85,000 for the New York-bred maiden special weights class, according to NYRA.
NYRA had also previously announced the purse for the Belmont Stakes is growing from $1.5 million to $2 million.
The Oklahoma Training Track opens for the season this Thursday.
As NewsChannel 13 reported, the race is being run at Saratoga for at least the next two years, due to a major construction project at Belmont Park.
