Officers attacked by inmate at Coxsackie Correctional Facility

Several officers at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility were injured, after they were allegedly attacked by an inmate.

The inmate pulled out a sharpened toothbrush during an altercation with another inmate, and ended up stabbing an officer in the wrist, according to the union representing those officers.

While being searched for the weapon, the inmate resisted, ultimately injuring five other staff members, the union said.

The inmate was transferred to Great Meadow Correctional Facility after the attack.

The officers are expected to recover
