Ongoing investigation prompts large police presence in Schenectady

A large police presence in Schenectady on Friday blocked off several streets.

Schenectady Police spokesman Lt. Ryan Macherone said Kelton Street from Albany Street to Watt Street was closed beginning early in the morning, A small portion of Odell was blocked as well.

The police activity as part of an operation between State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Schenectady Police Department, according to Macherone.

He said he was not able to provide further details because it is an ongoing investigation.
