Trial under way for man accused of making threats

Opening arguments are set to begin this afternoon in federal court in the trial of a Mayfield man accused of making threats to a Glens Falls business.

Jesse Bedell is accusing of leaving multiple phone messages for two employees at Medline Industries in Glens Falls, according to federal prosecutors.

Bedell allegedly said he would burn the plant down and blow up the two workers.

The facility had taken back a job offer for Bedell a day earlier because he didn’t disclose a conviction for larceny from 2017.

Bedell is facing two counts of transmitting a threat by interstate commerce. He is expected to argue that he was drunk when he made the call.

Bedell went on the run and was hiding in the woods in Hamilton County before rangers from the Department of Environmental Conservation found him, investigators said.
