The man accused of committing the first murder in Albany last year is set to go on trial Tuesday.
Kerdel Young is charged with second-degree murder for the death of Anthony Dias. He pleaded not guilty.
Young is accused of shooting Dias multiple times in the middle of the afternoon near a boxing gym in Albany’s Pine Hills neighborhood. Dias died at the scene.
The prosecution is expected to argue that Young and Dias knew each other prior to the shooting and had been fighting.
The incident was recorded by cameras in the area, they say that helped them find Young.
