ALBANY – Leaders from VOCAL-NY’s user’s union gathered outside the Governor’s Mansion Wednesday, calling on Gov. Hochul to take what they call life-saving measures.

They’re calling on the governor to use her executive powers to authorize overdose prevention centers statewide. Those are places where people can legally use drugs in a medical facility with oversight. The medical professionals there would be trained to reverse an overdose, if one were to occur.

VOCAL-NY leaders say these overdose prevention centers have been proven to save lives.
