Three people arrested on drug charges after searches

Three people arrested on drug charges after separate searches at two residences in Albany.

Albany Police have arrested three people on drug charges in connection with two separate investigations.

Police searched a home on the 500 block of First Street just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Officers found Kareem Beasley, 19, of Troy, inside with a quantity of crack cocaine, police said. Before the search, detectives stopped Tashawn Tarver, 51, in the 300 block of Quail Street and also arrested him as part of the investigation.

Beasley was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released. Tarver was charged with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arraigned and sent to Albany County Jail.

Police searched another residence on Thurlow Terrace just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. They found William Hartfield, 73, of Albany, inside the residence and arrested him. Hartford allegedly had powder cocaine, crack cocaine and several items used to distribute and sell narcotics.

Hartfield was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and sent to Albany County Jail. 

The two search warrants are not connected, police said.
