Parent, student facing charges after Pittsfield school fight

A large fight at Taconic High School in Pittsfield has led to charges for a parent and two students.

The incident took place last Thursday at around 8:50 a.m. Ronald Sanford-Satchell, 55, went to school to pick up his daughter after she was struck by a male student, according to NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle.

Sanford-Satchell saw the male student’s mother as he was leaving the school and returned to confront her, court documents said.

He was asked to leave by School Resource Officer Izinna Degraffenried and became “very aggressive,” police said.

Sanford-Satchell allegedly pushed another officer as they tried to get him to leave. He then punched a male student, which led to the “huge altercation,” the paper reported.

The student Sanford-Satchell punched, a juvenile, had nothing to do with the previous incident involving his daughter. That juvenile and 18-year-old Yameir Sparrow allegedly kicked Sanford-Satchell in the head.

Sanford-Satchell was charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery and assault and battery on a police officer. He pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance. He is required to stay away from the school.

Sparrow also pleaded not guilty and was released. The juvenile student, whose name was not released, is set to appear in juvenile court.
