Person struck and killed by Amtrak passenger train in Rensselaer

The Rensselaer City Police Department responded to a train-pedestrian accident in the area of East Street at Second Avenue on Saturday.

Police have confirmed the person struck has passed away.

No others were involved or injured, said Rensselaer PD.

At around 4:00 p.m., Rensselaer Police and Fire, Mohawk Ambulance Service, and W.F. Bruen Rescue responded to scene where a person was struck by an Amtrak passenger train.

Rensselaer PD thanks Rensselaer Fire, Mohawk Ambulance Service, W.F. Bruen Rescue Squad, and Amtrak personnel for their assistance.

Police ask to call the Rensselaer Detective’s Office at (518) 462-7451 if anyone has additional information regarding the incident.
