A pickup truck crashed in Delmar on Monday evening, ending a high-speed chase that involved spike strips, said police.

The crash happened at State Route 32 and Elsmere Avenue, near the Legacy Church.

This began in Coeymans, police said. The driver of a black Chevy pickup truck was in a different accident near Ravena, but fled the scene.

That driver then led police on a high-speed chase, they said.

Bethlehem Police eventually blew out the tires with the spike strip.

There was a second crash involving another driver, said eyewitnesses. Fortunately, that driver wasn’t hurt.

However, the getaway driver then fled into the woods. He was caught a short time later, and taken to Albany Medical Center. His injuries are unknown.

Part of the road was closed for a time. It has since reopened.
