Students in Pittsfield will have to follow new rules when it comes to cell phones.

The district will begin using Yondr pouches that have timed locks to restrict access.

On Wednesday, the Pittsfield School Committee unanimously accepted an enforcement plan for cell phone usage.

Under the policy, elementary students are not allowed to have phones in school, middle schoolers will put theirs in a “cellphone pocket”, and high schoolers will be allowed to keep their phones on silent in their bags.
