Police: Albany man drove while drugged, crashed car

An Albany man is accused of driving under the influence of drugs and crashing his car to evade police.
Hiijuane J. Daniels, 34, was traveling on I-787 around 3:20 Friday afternoon, when State Police tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.
Daniels instead drove away, and led police on a chase.
During the chase, Daniels struck a vehicle that was also traveling south on I-787, State Police said.
Daniels then got off at Exit 3B and struck a utility pole in the area of Broadway. He was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful fleeing from a police officer in a motor vehicle, obstructing governmental administration and traffic violations.
Daniels was released on an appearance ticket. He is due in Albany City Court on March 13.
