Police: Albany man had illegal guns in car

An Albany man is facing weapons charges after a traffic stop.

State Police stopped a vehicle on Quail Street on Dec. 17 at about 2:30 a.m. for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Kymir R. Pearson. He did not have a valid driver’s license. Troopers observed a gun in the passenger area of the vehicle, which led to a search and discovery of a second handgun, police said. Both guns were loaded and one had an illegal high-capacity magazine.

Pearson did not have a valid permit.

Pearson was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a weapon and other traffic violations. He was arraigned in Albany City Court and sent to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail of $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond or $5,000 partially secured bond.
