Police: Altamont man abandoned dog in feces-covered crate

An Altamont man is accused of abandoning three dogs outside an animal grooming business in Knox, leaving them in feces and filth.

William H. LaBarr, 33, allegedly left the three blue heeler dogs outside the business, early Thursday morning, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office said.

A resident reported hearing dogs barking and found a large crate with the dogs covered up with a mattress pad that was secured with an extensive cord. Feces were on the floor.

The dogs were taken to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, and evaluated.

LaBarr was charged with three counts each of abandonment of animals and failure to provide property sustenance/cruelty to animals.

He was issued an appearance ticket and due in Knox Town Court on July 3.
