Police: Amsterdam man had crack, drug paraphernalia
An Amsterdam man was arrested Thursday on drug charges following a traffic stop.
Amsterdam Police were patrolling a neighborhood to follow up on complaints of drug activity. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Officers interviewed the occupants of the vehicle. One of the passengers, 24-year-old Jesus M. Ortiz, had crack cocaine, powder cocaine, cash and drug paraphernalia including a digital scale and plastic bags, according to a news release.
Ortiz was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor of criminally using drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash bail.
