Police: Amsterdam man violated orders of protection

An Amsterdam man is accused of violating orders of protection.

Police stopped a 1993 Toyota Corolla driven by Cristian Gonzalez, 31, for a traffic violation on Thursday just before 1 p.m.

Police learned while investigating that two of Gonzalez’s passengers had stay-away orders of protection against him, they said.

Gonzalez also allegedly attempted to conceal the identity of one of the passengers and obstructed the investigation.

He was charged with two felony counts of criminal contempt and misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration.

He was transported to the Amsterdam Police Department and held pending arraignment in Amsterdam City Court.
