The two people accused of stealing a puppy from a pet store in Queensbury have been arrested.

Brianna D. Cushion, 18, of St. George, Vermont, and a male juvenile were arrested in the theft of a Mashi puppy from Pet Zone in Aviation Mall on Dec. 13, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

The male tucked the dog under his hooded sweatshirt and both left the store. They went through the mall and exited out the Target store.

After release of the photo, staff at Moriah Central School recognized the male as a student and contacted police. Information obtained from the juvenile lead officials to a residence in Moriah where the dog was found, according to police. The people at the residence were unaware of the theft and cooperated with returning the dog, police said.

The juvenile then provided police information about Cushion, who is an acquaintance of his. Cushion was contacted and turned herself in on Wednesday.

She was charged with grand larceny and arraigned in Warren County Centralized Arraignment Court. She is due in Queensbury Town Court at a later date.

The juvenile turned himself in on Friday. He was also arraigned in Warren County Centralized Arraignment Court and released to his guardian. His case will be handled in Warren County Family Court.
