Police: Bennington man fired gun in air during domestic incident

State Police have arrested a 19-year-old Bennington man for allegedly firing a gun in the air during a domestic incident.

Maclain M. Campbell is accused of brandishing the weapon and threatening the victim during an argument at home in Petersburgh on Oct. 13 at around 2 a.m. He then discharged the weapon, according to a news release.

The victim fled the location and contacted law enforcement, police said. No one was injured.

Campbell was located a short time later and arrested. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal use of a firearm, menacing and reckless endangerment.

Campbell was arraigned in Hoosick Town Court sent to Rensselaer County Correctional Facility. He posted $20,000 cash bail.
