Police: Brakes started tractor-trailer fire

State Police have released more information about a tractor-trailer fire Tuesday on the Northway in Essex County.

The tractor-trailer was traveling north in North Hudson near Exit 30 at around 11 a.m. when the rear brakes caught fire and caused the trailer to ignite, police said.

The driver was able to stop the vehicle and get out before the fire reached the cabin. He was not hurt.

The Northway was closed for a time between Exit 30 and Exit 32 as multiple fire departments responded to the scene.
