Canajoharie man faces larceny charges

Canajoharie man faces larceny charges for allegedly taking a deposit for a roof repair and not doing the work.

A Canajoharie contractor is accused of taking money for a home renovation project and not doing the job.

Jeffery J. Belrose, 55, was charged with felony third-degree grand larceny.

State Police received a complaint on Oct. 16 from a Fort Plain resident who said that they gave $3,000 to Belrose, of J’s and Sons Construction, in May 2023 for a roof renovation project. Belrose never started the work and did not return the money, police said.

Belrose was arrested on Oct. 30. He was released on an appearance ticket and due in Melrose Town Court on Dec. 14.
