A Clifton Park man is facing charges after police said he held someone against their will and engaged in a brief standoff with police.

Nicholas J. Lamboy, 54, is accused of threatening someone with a knife around 10:20 Saturday evening. The victim was able to get away unharmed and drove to the State Police station in Clifton Park, police said.

Troopers went to the home. Lamboy was uncooperative and refused to leave, police said. He then allegedly armed himself with a rifle and began walking toward troopers. Lamboy eventually put the firearm down, said police, but he resisted arrest. The firearm, which police said had an illegal high-capacity magazine, was seized.

Lamboy was charged with menacing a police officer, along with other charges related to weapons possession, menacing, and harassment. He was arraigned in Clifton Park Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of bail of $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond or $100,000 partially secured bond.
