A Cohoes man is accused of stealing over $3,000 worth of merchandise from Lowe’s.

James E. Thornton, 55, entered the Wilton store on five different dates and stole the items, State Police said.

Thornton was located during a traffic stop on New Year’s Eve and arrested.

He was charged with two felony counts of grand larceny and three misdemeanor counts of petty larceny. He was issued tickets and is due in Wilton Town Court on Jan. 16.

In addition, police said Thornton stole more items valued at over $400 immediately before the traffic stop. Those items were recovered from his vehicle and returned.
