A lifetime member of the Colonie Fire Department is accused of sending an explicit image to someone he believed to be a teen boy.

John J. Redick, 68, is charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to minors.

Redick did not have physical contact with the victim, Colonie Police said.

He was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and released under the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department. He is due back in court at a later date. 

Redick is a lifetime member of the Colonie Fire Company, police said.
