Police: Homeless man attacked person with bear spray at Malta convenience store

A homeless man is under arrest for allegedly attacking a person with bear spray at a Malta convenience store.

Jorge F. Torres, 44, is accused of spraying the person in the face at the X-tra Mart at 2954 U.S. Route 9 on Wednesday. Torres also allegedly violated an order of protection, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said.

He was charged with second-degree assault and aggravated criminal contempt.

Torres was arraigned in Malta Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of bail.

The victim was treated on scene by EMS.
