Police identify victim in Bethlehem crash on Route 85

A 53-year-old Selkirk woman has been identified as the victim of a Bethlehem crash.

Bethlehem Police have identified the person killed in Wednesday’s fiery head-on crash on Route 85.

Shawna Marzahl, 53, of Selkirk, was killed in the crash that happened just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday near the Krumkill Road exit ramp to Bethlehem.

Police said Matthew Monthie, 28, of Clifton Park. was traveling west on Route 85. Monthie crossed over the center line and struck Marzahl’s vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Monthie was injured and taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A third driver, 20-year-old Slingerlands resident Thomas J. Nastars, had damage to his vehicle after it was hit with debris from the initial crash. He was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
