Police in NY state issue 100,000+ tickets over Christmas-New Year’s holiday

A total of 106,509 tickets were issued statewide over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday, according to New York State Police.

The timeframe went from December 13 to January 1. Law enforcement at state, county and local levels participated.

A total of 1,819 tickets were given out here in the Capital Region. That’s the second lowest number of tickets out of all 11 regions.

It was all part of an effort to target impaired and reckless drivers.
