Jail inmate dies from apparent suicide

The inmate who was found dead in his cell early Thursday morning at Washington County Jail apparently died by suicide, police said on Friday.

The person was in distress and corrections officers, nursing staff Washington County Sheriff’s officers began life-saving measures. Fort Edward Fire Department and Fort Edward EMS also responded, but were not able to resuscitate him.

The incident remains under investigation.

The inmate’s name is not being released by police.  However, NewsChannel 13 has learned that it was Nickalas Connor, 32, of Jackson. Connor was arrested back in October and charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child. He was accused of repeatedly raping a child under the age of 13.
