Albany police are investigating a potential suspect responsible for making threats at Hackett Middle School. This comes after last week’s swatting hoax that spread fear across the Capital Region.

Superintendent John Yagielsk says police searched a home of a potential suspect, and determined the threats to Hackett were false. Yagielsk says the City School District of Albany’s security team will evaluate their safety and security procedures this week to make adjustments, if needed.

Near the school is the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area.

With Safety at the forefront of the afterschool program, visitors must be buzzed in to enter. The students practice drills so they know what to do if there ever was an intruder. The program manager David Gordon says safety is always a priority for their programs. “They know when they come here they can talk to me about certain things and feel safe after the fact,” said Gordon.
