Police have made an arrest in a deadly shooting at an Albany barbershop earlier this year.

Timmoure Miller, 18, has been charged with murder in connection to the shooting in May that killed 47-year-old Tyrone Staley at Village Barber and Beauty on Second Avenue.

Two people were hit inside the store including a 9-year-old boy.

Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins updated the public on the arrest during a news conference Tuesday to discuss public safety.

Hawkins said crime is down overall. However, the number of murders is not dropping.

In 87% of the homicides this year, Hawkins said the victim and the suspect knew each other. Also, half of all homicides in the city are between domestic partners or family members.
