A man is dead after a shooting in Gloversville. Investigators think he accidentally shot himself. However, the victim’s uncle doesn’t believe that.

It happened early Sunday morning at a home at 69 Fremont St. Police were called around 2:20 a.m. for a report of a shooting in front of the home.

The victim told police a man tried unsuccessfully to shoot him, and was now inside the home.

As police evacuated surrounding apartments and prepared to carry out a search warrant, they got a call for another shooting, and found Jesse Brockhum, 25, dead inside.

A semi-automatic pistol was found at the scene.

Police didn’t fire any guns, investigators said.

Brockhum’s uncle, Danny Johnson, said this all happened after a fight at a bar. His nephew had just been on the phone with his mother, said Johnson, and would never have hurt himself.

NewsChannel 13’s reached out to Gloversville Police for comment, but we have not heard back.

Hear Johnson talk more about why he doesn’t believe police’s story, and from a concerned neighbor who’s now worried about letting her grandkids play outside, by watching the video of Tiffany Payton’s story.
