Police: Man took money, didn’t install garage doors

The former owner of the Amsterdam Overhead Door Co. has been arrested, accused of taking $29,000 from clients and not completing jobs.

William B. Gutowski, 63,  is accused of taking deposits for installation of garage doors and not doing the work. During the course of the investigation, seven different victims came forward, Amsterdam Police said.

Gutowski has been charged with two counts of grand larceny, scheme to defraud and petit larceny.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office assisted the Amsterdam Police Department in this investigation.
