Police: Oneida County woman unconscious with children in running vehicle

An Oneida County woman was arrested after police said she was found unconscious behind the wheel with two children inside the vehicle.

Police responded to a Lake George restaurant on Wednesday for a report of a woman who was impaired and attempting to leave. When they arrived, officers found 32-year-old Ashley E. Seifert, of Vernon, unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said. Two children ages eight and 10 years old were inside.

Seifert also had drugs in her possession, police said.

She was charged with two felony counts of aggravated driving while ability impaired by drugs as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Seifert is also facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while ability impaired and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

She was released and is due in Lake George Town Court at a later date.
