Police: Pair stole checks from Bethlehem mailboxes and cashed them
Two people are accused of stealing checks from Bethlehem residents’ mailboxes.
Jahkeem P. Davis-Latulippe, 27, of Albany, and Jaden T. Patterson, 22, of Watervliet, would look in mailboxes for handwritten checks that were being mailed, according to Bethlehem Police. They then allegedly altered the information on the checks and cashed them, stealing money from the victims’ bank account.
They have each been charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, criminal possession of forgery devices, grand larceny, scheme to defraud and conspiracy. They were arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court. Patterson was released under the supervision of probation. Davis-Latulippe was held on $5,000 cash bail or $15,000 bond. They are due back in Bethlehem Town Court on Sept. 3.
