Police: Petersburg woman drove drunk, caused crash

A Petersburg woman is accused of driving under the influence and causing a crash.

Elizabeth Dubacher, 29, was driving her Jeep Cherokee west on Route 9 near Lind Lane in the town of Searsburg, early Monday morning. She moved into eastbound lane to pass a tractor-tractor-trailer, Vermont State Police said.

Dubacher then collided head on with a vehicle driven Tessa Viall, 40, of Hoosick Falls.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Dubacher was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers spoke with Dubacher and observed signs of impairment, police said. She was later arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Dubacher was issued a citation and released to a sober party.

Viall was also taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for treatment on non-life-threatening injuries.

The Wilmington Fire Department, Wilmington Police Department and Deerfield Valley Rescue assisted Vermont State Police.
