Police: Rotterdam man was nearly 4x too drunk to drive when he picked up son
A Rotterdam man is accused of picking up his son from school with a blood alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit.
Rotterdam Police said staff at Bradt Elementary School contacted them at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 about a parent who appeared to be intoxicated. The parent took off with the child.
Officers responded to the residence of Haroon Alradee, 39, and saw him pull up to the house. Alradee had five children in the vehicle with him, police said.
Police interviewed him, and determined him to be under the influence, police said.
Alradee was arrested and taken to the police station, where he had a blood alcohol level of 0.30%.
He was charged with felony DWI because he has a previous conviction within the last 10 years, five counts each of aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle and endangering the welfare of a child as well as traffic violations.
Alradee was released and due in Rotterdam Town Court on Sept. 19.
