Police seek new leads in 20-year-old Greenfield homicide

GREENFIELD – The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is seeking leads in a 20-year-old homicide case from the town of Greenfield.

On Aug. 30, 2003, 18-year-old Jennifer Marie “Moonbeam” Hammond was reported missing from a mobile home park in the town of Milton. Hammond was working for a company selling magazine subscriptions. She was originally from Colorado but had been traveling with the company, according to a news release.

On the afternoon she went missing, Hammond had been dropped off at the entrance to the mobile home park. She never showed up at the pickup location. Her co-workers searched the area but did not find her. Hammond was reported missing after she didn’t pick up her belongings at the hotel where she had been staying. She had previously made plans to return to Colorado but was never seen again.

In 2009, hunters in the area of Lake Desolation in the town of Greenfield found human remains, which were confirmed to be Hammond’s through DNA testing. The case was ruled a homicide.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with any information about the case to contact 518-885-6761.
