Price Chopper purchases assets of former Capital Region ShopRites

Price Chopper buys empty ShopRite properties

Price Chopper-Market 32 is extending its corporate footprint across the Capital Region.

Price Chopper has just announced they have purchased the leases, store equipment and fixtures of the five former Shoprites in Niskayuna, North Greenbush, Slingerlands, Albany and Colonie.

“This isn’t about trying to keep anybody out of the market,” insisted Blaine Bringhurst, Price Chopper/Market 32’s President. “It’s about expanding what we feel like we do so well, especially here in the Capital District.”

Even though there was already a good density of Price Chopper stores in the Capital Region, Bringhurst says it made sense to grow the company’s footprint by gobbling up the five former Shoprite locations.

The Niskayuna and North Greenbush stores will be converted to Market 32 stores. The Slingerlands location will be marketed for sublease. They’re still discussing what to do with the Albany and Colonie stores.
