Emily says Morgan loved riding horses, so in her honor there were horse riding races, raffle tickets, and games for the public to enjoy. Emily says money raised during the festivities will go towards an internship, “The Morgan Bates Youth Horseman Internship Program,” which will help young children and teens who are also interested in horses.

It’s been nearly seven months since the tragic death of Morgan Bates.

Morgan was first reported missing in February 22nd. Days later police found her body near Black River Road in Cherry Plain State Park. Morgan’s ex-boyfriend was arrested and charged with her murder.

Patterson tells us she knows nothing can erase the family’s pain, but she hopes it’ll bring the family comfort knowing Morgan’s legacy to spread joy will continue. “The family has gone through traumatic lost, they lost their grandmother a few months before, they lost Morgan’s mother just before Morgan passed away, so they just went through a lot,” she said.

A gofundme has also been created by a family friend to help Morgan’s father purchase a headstone for his daughter.
