A repeat felon is behind bars after he admitted to robbing and punching a man on Caroline Street in Saratoga Springs.

Jose Colon, 53, pled guilty to attacking another man and stealing his wallet, the Saratoga County District Attorney’s office said. The altercation occurred in May and the man Colon attacked was sent to an area hospital with a concussion. Colon is scheduled to be sentenced to up to 10 years in state prison at a later date.

District Attorney Karen Haggen thanked local business owners and police for doing their part in finding the suspect.

“The fact that within a few hours we had a suspect in custody, an overwhelming collection of incriminating surveillance footage, and a healing victim with his property returned to him, demonstrates how resilient a community we can be if business owners and law enforcement face this challenge together.” Haggen said.
