Schenectady police, the sheriff’s department and state police all raced to the Mohawk River in Schenectady, near Riverside Park, after someone said they thought they saw a body.

The call came in just after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police said.

Sources confirm a body was found in a shopping cart in that area, and it looks like the body had been there for a while.

This is in the area where Schenectady teen Samantha Humphrey, 14, went missing the day after Thanksgiving.

The 14-year-old girl was last seen at the park, meeting up with her ex-boyfriend.

However, there is no word yet if this is her.

“At this point, right now, I just don’t really want to put that connection together. I know that’s what everybody’s thinking right now. It’s just too premature for that to happen,” said Schenectady Police Chief Eric Clifford.
