St. Peter’s Health Partners has sent a closure plan for the Burdett Birth Center to the New York State Department of Health, the Times Union reported.

St. Peter’s announced last year it would be closing the center due to major impacts on staffing and finances from the pandemic.

In the 43-page document, hospital officials said pre-and post-natal care would remain unchanged after the closure. They laid out transportation options for Burdett patients whose births would be transferred to hospitals in Schenectady and Albany.

Burdett is the only birthing center in Rensselaer County. It is currently scheduled to close in June.
