Riley, Molinaro absentee ballot counting to happen Wednesday
Absentee and military ballot counting in New York’s 19th Congressional District will now happen Wednesday. This is the race between Democrat Josh Riley and incumbent Republican Marc Molinaro.
As NewsChannel 13 previously reported, it was first announced that counting would happen Tuesday.
The Board of Elections must make sure all absentee ballots are valid first, and that the person also didn’t vote in person, they said.
The race is a rematch from two years ago, when Molinaro narrowly beat Riley.
Meanwhile, both the Associated Press and NBC News have already declared Riley the winner.
The 19th Congressional District spans from Rensselaer and Columbia counties across the Hudson Valley through the Catskills and along the Southern Tier.
The race was the most expensive House race in the country, with nearly $39 million spent.
There are still a few hundred outstanding ballots.
Molinaro hasn’t conceded yet, but said he’ll accept whatever the results are.
