Firefighters in Round Lake had a busy weekend responding to more than 40 calls and several different types of emergencies.

The village sits in a bowl, according to Lake Fire Captain Joe Plewinski, and so close to Round Lake that it’s almost like a magnet for flooding.

Many people have sump pumps to help, he said, but when those fail, the fire department’s called.

The Red Cross is also helping a couple adults, after their home on Ashdown Road in Ballston Lake was flooded.
