Seven people hurt in Kinderhook crash

Seven people are hurt in a Kinderhook crash on Route 9.

Seven people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Route 9 in Kinderhook on Tuesday.

The crash happened at around 6:15 a.m. and involved a Chevy Silverado and Honda Accord, State Police said. Route 9 was closed in both directions between Rapp Road and Route 9H for several hours. It has since reopened.

Six people were in one vehicle and one person was in the other vehicle, according to the Niverville Fire Department. The driver of the car needed the Jaws of Life to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken by helicopter to Albany Medical Center.

The other five people and the driver of the pickup truck were transported to local hospitals, police said.

The Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to the scene and the Valatie and South Schodack fire departments assisted with traffic control.

The crash is under investigation.
