Run raises awareness of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder
The 5-K Run FASD was held this past weekend in Slingerlands to raise awareness of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
The condition affects people who were exposed to alcohol while in the womb.
Event coordinator Rebecca Tillou said the condition is 2 ½ times as common as autism and affects executive brain function including impulse control and time management and cause problems for students in schools.
All proceeds from the run went toward FASD United.
