Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office participating in statewide ‘Stop DWI’ campaign this Halloween

Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo says the Sheriff’s Office and county police agencies will be participating in the statewide ‘Stop DWI Halloween High Visibility Engagement’ campaign on Halloween.

Zurlo says this campaign brings awareness to the dangers of driving impaired on a day like Halloween.

The office says the campaign is one of many statewide initiatives promoted by Stop-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, and this campaign targets other holidays such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Super Bowl weekend, and St. Patrick’s Day.

Zurlo says “making a plan for a sober driver or ride right now is not only simple, but can save you and those around you from irreversible pain and suffering. Halloween is a time to make memories and have fun, not plan a funeral or a homicide defense.”

The Sheriff’s Office says that highly publicized efforts like this campaign aim to further reduce the chances of drunk and impaired driving. They say to have a sober plan, and recommend downloading Stop-DWI NY’s “Have a Plan” mobile app.
